Program Overview
Reauthorization for Pre-K 4 SA will be part of the ballot on Nov. 3rd, 2020.
The Keep Pre-K 4 SA Campaign is a separately run political action committee.
In November 2012, citizens of San Antonio said “YES” to investing in four-year-olds and to the collection of a 1/8 cent sales tax to fund Pre-K 4 SA.
When reauthorized, Pre-K 4 SA will continue to serve 2,000 children in Pre-K 4 SA Education Centers and expand to serve an additional 3,000 middle class families earning up to $65,000 a year.

Expanding Access and Quality
Within the first 8 years Pre-K 4 SA will have awarded $21 MILLION in grants—supporting 13,000 STUDENTS and impacting 198* SCHOOLS.

Developing Teachers
Each year Pre-K 4 SA provides 10,000 HOURS of free professional learning to 2,000 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS in San Antonio.
Pre-K 4 SA is a recognized, TEA Authorized Provider of HB3 Reading Academies

Strengthening Families
Supporting the entire family helps build a successful learning foundation—78.9% of parents taught letters, words, and numbers, 72.4% of parents played games, sports or exercised with kids, 69.1% of parents told stories.

No New Taxes
The referendum proposes dedicating a 1/8 cent from the sales tax penny. This is a continuation of an existing sales and use tax resulting in no net tax increase.
