A New Era for Early Learning: Educare San Antonio Breaks Ground

San Antonio leaders shovel up dirt to celebrate the groundbreaking of Educare San Antonio.

On April 1, 2025, a major milestone for San Antonio’s youngest learners and early educators took place—Texas A&M University-San Antonio broke ground on Educare San Antonio, a state-of-the-art early childhood education center that will serve 200 young children. Located on the Texas A&M-San Antonio campus, this will be the first Educare network school in Texas, and it is arriving in a part of the city that needs it most.

Pre-K 4 SA is honored to operate the new center. As San Antonio’s trusted early education program, we bring a decade-long track record of providing high-quality early learning while supporting the dedicated educators who make that excellence possible.

So why does this matter? Because access to child care continues to be a serious challenge for families in San Antonio—especially on the South Side. A recent study commissioned by the City of San Antonio and conducted by Texas A&M University-San Antonio confirmed what many families already know: there are not enough child care seats. Currently, only about two-thirds of children under the age of five in Bexar County have access to licensed care.

This is where Educare San Antonio will make a difference.

This center is more than a place for children—it is a place for growth, for families, and for the future. It will provide young children with a strong educational foundation from the very start and give working families the peace of mind that comes from knowing their children are in a safe, supportive, and enriching environment

But the impact goes even further. Educare San Antonio will also help train the next generation of early childhood professionals. From aspiring teachers to future center directors, the facility will serve as a hands-on learning hub for students. Even business majors at Texas A&M University-San Antonio will benefit, gaining real-world experience in areas like budgeting and early education operations.

This is the kind of collaborative, community-centered approach that builds a stronger San Antonio. Together—educators, universities, families, and city leaders—we are creating opportunities, strengthening the workforce, and setting children on a path to success.

At Pre-K 4 SA, we are proud to play a leading role in this transformational effort. Because when every child has access to high-quality early learning, our entire city grows stronger—today and for generations to come.
