Saturday Academies—Social Emotional Learning
Sessions are occurring concurrently. Please join us for one of the following sessions.
Conflict Resolution with Preschoolers
Opportunities to help children learn effective problem solving present themselves daily in early childhood classrooms. Whether there is conflict between children over who gets to use a favorite toy, upset over a transition, or hurt feelings, using the steps of conflict resolution can help children develop self-awareness, practice self-regulation and learn problem solving skills. Participants will take an in-depth view of conflict resolution and practice strategies that support children in communicating their feelings and needs, and becoming effective problem solvers.
Classroom Connections
Building nurturing relationships with children and fostering positive relationships among children are central to promoting social and emotional skills and fundamental in trauma-informed practices. This interactive workshop will guide participants through activities that build attachments and classroom community. Participants will learn about the impact of early experiences on brain development and the power of positive connections.
