Pre-K 4 SA Virtual Saturday Academy – Social Emotional Learning

Building Trusting Relationships

Trusting relationships are the foundation on which children develop self-regulation and have always been a priority for early childhood educators. In light of the challenges related to COVID-19, including the quarantine, establishing relationships with our young learners is more critical than ever. Young children experience and sense anxiety in those around them and are adjusting to a new routine and a unique school year. This session will focus on the foundational nature and importance of trusting relationships in children’s development and will provide strategies for immediate implementation to help educators promote and sustain these vital connections throughout the school year.

Balancing Your Wellness

The challenges and stresses that educators are facing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic are unprecedented. To continue supporting students during this challenging time, educators must focus on their wellness. Educator wellness has been linked to teachers’ physical health, teacher effectiveness and student achievement. Furthermore, the emotions and stress levels of teachers has been found to influence students and their colleagues. This session will focus on assessing, utilizing strategies and understanding the components of wellness.

*All participants will attend both sessions.
